Remember that one time I almost fist pumped in Starbucks? Or over jumped over the counter to hug the barista? Oh yeah… that was me yesterday in the Hanover Starbucks. Let me rewind a bit for you…
Yesterday morning I came to the realization that August is over (what happened to August?!) and fall is here. September is a great month in my books because my family celebrates 3 birthdays (one being mine!) and my parents’ anniversary. September has always been a month of fresh starts & new beginnings (except this is the first year EVER I’m not going back to school… so cool & weird. I guess this means I’m officially an adult?), and last but certainly not least, fall means Pumpkin Spice Lattes from Starbucks.
As I was browsing Instagram and Facebook yesterday morning, I was so excited and envious to see people posting their Pumpkin Spice Latte photos left & right. So my husband and I made ourselves somewhat presentable (just one step up from our Saturday morning PJ attire) and headed into town. Corey could tell I was so excited, and I had visions of orange balloons, pumpkin shaped confetti, and flashing Pumpkin Spice signs as I walked through the doors of Starbucks (okay, that might be a little dramatic, but you get the idea). But when I entered Starbucks, it was weirdly normal. A typical morning in the Hanover Starbucks. No Pumpkin Spice signs. No fall-looking things. Not going to lie, disappointment was an understatement. But I kept a glimmer of hope as I not-so-patiently waited in line and then got to the barista. I asked with lots of hesitation, “Do you have pumpkin spice lattes yet?” With a cheery smile she said, “Unofficially, yes.” And here comes the point where I almost fist pumped & jumped over the counter to give her a hug. I have no idea what unofficially having pumpkin spice lattes entails, but all I heard was YES. And so begins the long season of consuming way too many Pumpkin Spice Lattes.
As I was not caring that they spelt my name wrong (I would have taken a pumpkin spice with any name on it) and taking the first DELICIOUS sips (and boy were they delicious), I began to feel excited for fall. Ready for fall weddings, apple picking, family portraits, cider donuts, New England foliage, fall fashion, and everything that the season has to bring. Summer has been a great & crazy transition with moving to the Upper Valley in June, re-locating my business, starting new life adventures, and enjoying all of God’s great blessings. Now that the period of transition & change are over, I’m ready for fall & excited to see what the future has in store.
Cheers to Pumpkin Spice!

P.S. I apologize for missing a “Featured on the First” in August… like I said, I can’t really remember August ever happening.
