welcome to the blog

This weekend had nothing to do with photography and I’m more than okay with that! As much as I believe that I have the best job on the planet, a break every once in a while keeps me feeling refreshed. Am I drowning in editing work and unanswered emails? Did that stop me from taking an impromptu day trip to Boston with my husband on Saturday? Nope.

Here are some thoughts from the weekend…

Corey & I decided to take a day trip to Boston on Saturday! (I know, I just said that). We totally played the tourist role… walked around Boston Harbor, had lunch in Faneuil Hall, and walked through Boston Commons & the Public Gardens (the last time I was there was for Lindsey & Pat’s engagement session! Missed it? See it HERE). To say we did a lot of walking is an understatement. But it was such a gorgeous day and so nice to spend some time in the city (usually when I go it’s to catch a flight)! Most importantly, a FULL DAY alone with my husband was the best. A free Saturday for both of us is a rare gem these days so we had to make the most of it!

I had my first s’more of the season last night. Let me just say… I think s’mores might be my favorite food. It is literally perfection– an extra crispy marshmallow & a slightly melted Hershey bar between a graham cracker. Mmmmmmmm… nothing says summer more than grilling & s’mores! We had our good friends Catherine & Bryan stay with us for the weekend and Cat & I enjoy sitting and chatting while the manly men prove their masculinity through grilling. Win win.

This weekend was graduation weekend for Dartmouth… it made me realize how many great families I’ve been able to photograph this year that are graduating from Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth and are now moving onto new adventures! I compiled this collection of all the great clients I’ve had from Tuck throughout the year… I’m sure going to miss them!

SNEAK PEEKS!

At the end of last week I had two great back-to-back sessions. The first was a newborn session with little Oliver. He had one of the most beautiful nurseries I have ever seen, all styled & decorated by his very talented mama! (I know who I’ll be calling when I need help with any interior decorating!) That blue dresser? Used to be a ratty old dresser brought back to life with Caroline’s vision & a fresh coat of paint. As gorgeous as the nursery was, Oliver was the one who stole the show. This little family is so sweet and I so enjoyed getting to spend some time with them!

Later in the afternoon on Friday I met up with another Tuck family! Little Jasper is the newest addition to my group of little Tuckie friends. We started off the session in Sachem Village (I found out this family lives just right down the road from me!) then ended in with beautiful light by the Connecticut River in Norwich, VT. Beautiful light + cute, cute family = great session to end off the week!

More to come from both sessions!

This week’s blog may be a little lighter as I prepare for my trip to…… CHICAGO!! Next weekend I’m flying out to Chicago to photograph Kate & Trever’s engagement session and I couldn’t be more excited. How soon is too soon to pack?! Have any recommendations of things to do or see or places to eat in Chicago?! Leave them in the comments below!

Have a Happy Week!
