CELINE. I. saw. Celine. Dion. Did I cry? Yes. Did I buy a mug & magnet with her face on it? Yes. Was the crazy travel schedule to get there worth it? YES.
Here are a few things about our Vegas trip….
– This was my first time to Vegas and it was basically exactly what I expected it to be. “Over the top” is a good way to describe it I think. Enough said.
– I wouldn’t necessarily recommend trying to make it to Vegas & back from New England within 36 hours. It was worth it for Celine, but my body is still trying to figure out which time zone we’re in.
– My favorite airline to fly is definitely JetBlue! The individual TV screens are the best & on our overnight flight they gave out free sleep masks & ear plugs. I slept like a babyyy.
– Big coincidence… Corey booked our ticket dates on his own, and it happened to be right around the time of the big WPPI photography conference! I knew fellow Hallmark grads Scott Zuehlke & Amy Spirito on our flight from Boston to Vegas. We stopped into MGM where the conference is being held on Saturday, but there wasn’t much going on at that point. Maybe next year I’ll have to plan a return to Celine combined with a trip to WPPI? :)
– Celine. She was amazinggg. After a lonnnngggg flight (complete with an unplanned stop in Albuquerque & the worst turbulence I’ve ever been through), seeing a billboard for her show in the airport made it all worth it. Saturday felt like it dragged on forever, but finally a little after 7:30pm, the lights went down, a screen dropped down from the ceiling, and a montage of her shows & tour over the last 5 years played. Then the curtains opened and she was standing right. there. I mean, I was expecting the music to start and her to slowly rise from a smoke filled stage or something. But there she was in all her glory right in front of me. Face-to-hands and cue the tears. It’s not too often I cry… but she starting singing and I couldn’t help it. SO WORTH IT. Corey said I didn’t sit back in my seat for the first 30 minutes of the show. Every second of the show was incredible, and to the icing on the cake was her finale of “My Heart Will Go On” … arguably my favorite song of all time. It was basically the most glorious thing I’ve ever seen. A HUGE thank you to Corey for enduring a rigorous travel schedule for the sake of getting me to a Celine concert. I have the best husband on the planet.
Here are a few photos I snapped with my iPhone from our trip!
I may or may not have started squealing when I saw the Caesar’s Palace sign from our cab.
Our bathroom in our room at Caesar’s Palace… I could have stayed there all day. Gold trimmed robe, TV in the mirror, rain head shower… Yes please.
(Left) This was in the mall area in Caesar’s Palace. The ceiling looked like the sky and it actually felt like you were outside…it was also one of the only places inside that you couldn’t smoke so I felt like I was gulping the fresh air. (Right) Right outside of the theater!
The only cash I had on me was $10 so that’s how much we gambled with. Big spenders, I know. We played a slot machine, which I thought would be pretty self-explanatory, but I had no clue what I was doing. We ended up winning $11.25, so we walked away $1.25 richer. Except joke is on us when we pay $5 for a bottle of water.
During the day Corey & I got to walk up and down the strip to see all the other famous hotels & casinos. To the left is the ceiling of the Bellagio, then of course on the right are the famous fountains. Unfortunately we didn’t get to see them at night, but it was still pretty cool to watch during the day!
Of course I had to get day time & night time looks with Celine signs. I knew I had made a good choice with the gold sequin dress when Celine came out on stage for “Love Can Move Mountains” and “River Deep, Mountain High” in a long-sleeved, short gold sequin dress too.
The view from our seats & a necessary selfie of Corey & I right before the show. Seriously love that guy. Married adventures are the best.
