I’m a big fan of TV. I’m the first to admit that I get sucked into TV shows and couldn’t live without my DVR (who remembers recording TV shows on your VCR player?? yep, that was me.) If you watch TV you probably know by now that most of the regular shows have wrapped up for the season and won’t be on again until September. If you’re a fellow TV lover, here’s my take on what’s been happening on the tube… {SPOLER ALERT: If you haven’t quite caught up on your DVR or online… there are spoilers below!!}
Revenge
This show always promises to keep you on the edge of your seat. Never a dull moment in the life of Emily Thorne (or should we say Amanda Clarke…), which always makes for great television. I wonder how long they can drag out this storyline for before her true identity is revealed, but they seem to have done it again! So many unanswered questions and cliff hangers that season 3 can’t seem to come fast enough. What’s going to happen to Nolan? How will Jack react now that he knows Emily is actually Amanda? Did Victoria’s son really show up at her doorstep? Ahh, guess I’ll have to wait until September.
Mentalist
Who else is frustrated? It’s season 5 and we still don’t know who Red John is??!! Yet I just love Patrick Jane so much that I’ll keep coming back for more. We found out in the season finale that Red John is a lot smarter than we thought, so maybe next season Patrick, maybe next season.
Grey’s Anatomy
Grey’s Anatomy is one of my favorite shows of all time. I wouldn’t be surprised if it came to an end in the 10th season (and that would be okay with me, because I call 10 seasons a successful run…. you don’t want to ruin something good by dragging it out for too long). In the season 9 finale, I’m glad Derrick & Merideth’s baby is okay. It was a little rough there for a while, and the previews don’t help where it always looks like the world is ending. Arizona’s affair is frustrating and leaves us hanging as to the fate of Callie & Arizona. Just after they spent all season on the rocks over Callie’s decision to amputate Arizona’s leg to save her life, things were just looking up and now this. That means they won’t be starting next season on a good note. On the flip side, thank God Alex & Jo finally just got over the whole “being friends thing”… the sexual tension has been there from the getgo and we all know it. But probably the biggest news… IS THE CHEIF ALIVE??? Talk about a cliffhanger in the last 30 seconds…
Law & Order: SVU
Oh. My. Word. In probably the most suspenseful season finale of all the shows I watch, SVU never fails me. I have to say, I saw the ending coming once a mistrial was called but it didn’t make it any less stressful. A psycho rapist-murderer in Olivia’s apartment, then cut to black! See you next season??!! I can’t wait that long to see if she’s okay! I have to say, I’m still hoping & dreaming that Elliot will come back and save her. But that’s wishful thinking. {Sigh}. Talk about the most unfinished, longest-running, sexual tension between two TV characters. I feel so unresolved between Elliot & Olivia. As much as a like the new cast members (which I was very skeptical of), it’s just not the same without Elliot.
… Heading into the summer season of TV, So You Think You Can Dance is still in the audition rounds but is looking very promising for this season already! Our TV is also being occupied by the NBA Finals (Go Heat!) and the Stanley Cup (Go Red Wings!). Probably my biggest weakness & guilty pleasure, the Bachelorette is back on. Anyone who watched Sean’s season could have seen that Desiree would be the next bachelorette. She fits the mold and I think it will be a great season. Any predictions on who will become her husband?? My husband predicted Catherine at the first cocktail party last season, so we’ll see if his pick for the bachelorette pans out too.
I also am very cautious in getting wrapped up into new TV shows, but I took a friend’s advice and thought I’d see what Scandal is all about. Needless to say, I’ve gotten myself a Hulu + membership and am midway through the 2nd season. Whenever I have 45 minutes free, I’m watching Scandal on my laptop. It is funny to see crossover characters from Grey’s Anatomy to Scandal (both created by Shonda Rimes) but I. am. hooked.
