I’ve always liked Thanksgiving. I mean, who wouldn’t? It has always meant the opportunity to spend time with family, cozy homes, delicious food, taking the time to be thankful and the start of the holiday season. This week started off like any other Thanksgiving week, with plans to finish up work Monday & Tuesday then head out to our hometown of Ellsworth, Maine for the rest of the holiday week. Well it turns out things happened a little differently…
Early Monday evening I got a phone call that one of my very best friends had been in a bad car accident. It was one of those moments where I literally felt like my breath was ripped right out my chest, and though I was told that none of her injuries were life-threatening, the thought of “head-on-collision,” “hospital,” and “Jen” all in the same sentence were enough for me to throw some clothes in a bag and head right back to Maine that night.
Being able to just see Jen, hold her hand, and be with her in the days that followed her accident has made this Thanksgiving one to remember. I always try to take the time to be so thankful for all of life’s great blessings around Thanksgiving time, but this week, more than ever, God has reminded me how everything can change in a second and to be thankful for every loved one & every single moment. Luckily Jen is recovering after hip surgery and, though it will be a long recovery, she’ll be just fine.
I’m so thankful for my wonderful husband, family & friends today and everyday. And to my wonderful clients who have been so understanding about some delays this week, thank you.
And a note to everyone who submitted photos for the holiday canvas contest & album giveaway, I have gotten your photo even if you didn’t get a response from me! The contest will start tomorrow at noon right on Facebook!
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone from snowy Ellsworth, Maine! Give your loved ones an extra big hug today :)
