This weekend was kind of like the best of all worlds. Family, friends, great food, fun Saturday night out, lazy Sunday morning in. Corey & I started our weekend Friday afternoon by heading down to Nashua, NH to meet up with his family for his brother’s birthday. Saturday we came back home to Hanover for our first time at the annual Mud Ball (Gatsby themed!). Sunday was one of those days where I didn’t get out of my PJs until it was time to go to dinner… the best kind of Sunday if you ask me. Here a few thoughts & highlights from the weekend:

– If you get to know a couple well enough, you’ll notice that every couple has their things. Their ticks. Their habits. For Corey & I, we love to share drinks. Especially new ones we’re trying out for the first time. There’s something oddly romantic I love about one drink with 2 straws. Maybe it’s because it’s a thing that makes us, us. Well this weekend at the hibachi grill we went to for Corey’s brother’s birthday dinner, we split a scorpion bowl. 2 giant straws. 1 big bowl of fruity drink goodness (anything fruity always brings me back to our Hawaiian honeymoon). Yummm.

– We got to meet the newest member of the extended DeWitt family this weekend. No, not the first grandchild. Corey’s parents are now the proud parents to Oscar’s little brother from another litter, Ivan. (Does that make Oscar the uncle or the brother? I like to call him his uncle-brother) Ivan reminds me SO much of Oscar when he was a kitten… I can’t wait until the day these two meet.

– Saturday night Corey & I got to get dressed up and go out to a Gatsby themed benefit ball in Hanover. SO MUCH FUN. When my great friend Ali invited us to go to the event with them– a chance to get dressed up, hang out with friends, & go out dancing? Yes please. Since I’m monumentally bad at styling my own hair (especially when it involves anything having to do with a curling iron), I had my friend Candace from Colour by Candace work her hair & makeup magic, and boy did she deliver! She’s done some amazing hair & makeup for a few of my portrait sessions before, but it was so fun to be on the other side this time! And plus, a little pampering never hurt a girl :) With our Gatsby looks put together, Corey & I had so much fun at the Mud Ball – it was so great see lots of people we knew (including a couple past portrait clients and an upcoming June KDP bride!) and meet some great new friends too!

– Restaurant Rave: Worthy Kitchen – Woodstock, VT – We went there last night for dinner. Everything was delicious. The mac n cheese was in the ballpark of The Farmhouse’s (for those who live in Burlington, you know what I mean). Amazing fries. And to top it all off, we had their donuts which tasted like this delicious mini, sugar-covered doughboy. If you’re in the Upper Valley and have never been, GO.
