It’s been a long, long wait but I am SO excited to launch my new website & blog! I figured while I had some free time on my spring break from Hallmark I could put together my website… little did I know how long it would take and how many options there are when it comes to building a website.

For those of you who know me, thank you for all your endless love and support. For those visiting for the first time, here is a little about what has been going on in my life over the past few years…

I started my photography business in 2011 as KC photography. I started with family portraits & engagement sessions, then eventually got into weddings, newborns, senior portraits, and more. My business was mostly based in Ellsworth, Maine, where I grew up and knew many of the community members. However, at the time, I was finishing up my undergraduate career at the University of Vermont for secondary education with a concentration in history. I absolutely loved teaching and was excited to start my career in teaching after I graduated in May 2012. However, as life would have it, God had other plans for me. When I was browsing the web one day, I found a photographer who had graduated at the top of her class from Hallmark Institute of Photography in Turners Falls, MA. I was curious what this school was, so I visited their website and clicked on the link to download their brochure, just out of pure curiosity. Probably the best mistake I’ve ever made. The offices at Hallmark would not. stop. calling. me. Finally I answered the phone to talk to them to tell them I wasn’t interested in attending their school, as I was just finishing up a bachelor’s degree. I was thinking that they were located near Boston, but when I found out it was an hour and a half south of Dartmouth, where my fiancé was attending medical school, that changed things. I decided it couldn’t hurt to just take a look at the school, so in late November 2011 my husband and I toured and interviewed at Hallmark. 2 weeks later I was enrolled in the Fall 2012 class.

I graduated from UVM in May 2012 then got married to my high school sweetheart on July 7, 2012 at the beautiful Asticou Inn in Northeast Harbor, ME. We spent two weeks in Hawaii on a wonderful honeymoon, came home to Maine to pack up our stuff, then moved with our kitten, Oscar, to Bellows Falls, VT in August to get settled in before school started. Our current living situation is a little hard to explain to people… This is usually how it goes, “We live in Bellows Falls, VT and I commute 50 minutes south to photography school and Corey commutes 45 minutes north to medical school at Dartmouth.”

Fast forward to now, and we are excited to move up to Hanover, NH in June after I graduate from Hallmark’s 10-month program. I have been visiting Hanover since Corey’s freshman year of undergrad back in 2007 so I am so excited to finally live there and start my business in such a great community!

That’s my story. Stay tuned for my final portfolio journey at Hallmark and the beginning of my career in Hanover, NH.

xoxo – Kelsey
